Owen’s latest EP, ‘Songs for Syria’, is dedicated to all of the support of refugees in Syria with all proceeds benefiting the International Red Cross!
Struck by the human toll of the conflict in Syria, Campbell originally sought out other artists to take part in Songs for Syria, but later chose to pursue the project as a live solo EP.
“Songs for Syria is a project I started working on in mid-2013,” said Campbell, who’s prepping for a U.S. tour in June. “With some six million people displaced by the Syrian conflict, I felt compelled to do something, and I decided to do it with a little help from my friends.”
Those friends included Doug Clarke and Lewis Tems of Sunburst Studios in Coogee, Australia, Andrew Edgson of Studio 301, and Peter Gatti, co-founder of Reckless Grace Music, which is distributing both Songs for Syria and Campbell’s U.S. debut CD, The Pilgrim, in June.
“Owen is extremely passionate about this,” Gatti said. “His sense of social commitment is remarkable, and the time he’s invested in this solo live recording speaks to his authentic concern for Syrian refugees.”
Adds Campbell:” “I’m not so foolish to think I can change the world, but I’ll give it a solid crack.”
